About Organization: Smartphones For Water Nepal (S4W-Nepal) is a non-profit research organization, primarily focused on generating, managing, and understanding hydro-meteorological, environmental, and earth science data necessary to support wise water management decisions. Research Assistant Intern
Job Description:
The overall objective of the internship is for the incumbent to gain an understanding of the water resources in the Kathmandu Valley and to prepare him or her for employment or further education in the water resources sector.
- Support the S4W-Nepal team with fieldwork, data management, research, analysis, report writing, and outreach campaigns
- Recruit, train, and coordinate citizen scientists
- Conduct research on various topics relevant to the organization’s goals, projects, or initiatives.
- To document the findings of the research in a clear, concise, and organized manner.
- Disseminating research findings to citizen scientists, and relevant stakeholders
- Staying up to date with the latest research methods, technologies, and trends
- Communicate complex ideas and findings clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of audiences.
Minimum Qualification and Desired Qualities:
- Bachelor’s degree (1st or 2nd year preferred) in Science or other relevant field
- Analytical and creative mindset
- Self-motivated and willing to learn and apply research concepts and skills.
- Ability to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Must be competent in GIS, Microsoft Office Suite, and preferably python
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali
- Have a two-wheeler and a valid driving license (preferred)
